Stogursey, Somerset: Institution of rector
Item
10 June 1386
Institution by John, bishop of Bath and Wells, of Ralph Canon, chaplain, to the rectory of Wotton [Wootton Courtney]. By writ of 15 May 1386 the bishop had been informed of the recovery by the crown of the presentation against the claims of Henry, prior of the hospital of St John, Wells, and Adam Byneworth. At the manor of Woky [Wookey].
Seal, pointed oval, originally about 65 mm, dark green wax, on tongue. Most of the border is gone, a good impression: an edifice, in the upper portion the Virgin and Child, below Saints Peter and Andrew with their emblems, in the base, the bishop, full face.
