Description
At each corner of the base is a protome of a griffin standing on a small pedestal. In the centre of each side is a bacchic figure in relief.
25: In the centre, a satyr with a skin slung across his body dances to right with his arms outstretched and looks back to left. In his left hand he holds a thyrsus. At his feet is a tiger which turns its head to look up at him.
26: On this side Pan dances right, turning his head to look left. His right hand is on his head, in his left hand he holds out a pedum. His right foot rests on a trident which is impaled in the ground.
27: In the centre a maenad with billowing drapery dances and points to right, turning her head to left. She holds a tympanum against her thigh.
