Description

Content (description)

a) perhaps an altar or pedestal. Garlands hung at the top corners, perhaps over heads, but the damage (to the object, not the drawing ) is too great to tell. In the centre are a bow, quiver and patera (?). At bottom right is an animal head by a long snaky object.
b) Perhaps the corner block of a frieze. On right a tiny putto rides on the neck of sea-monster, in the coils of which an infant is trapped upside down. On left a child lies beneath a confusion of figures: a male torso, a dog's head below, spread wings and clawed feet.
