Three views of the altar are given. On left is a view of the front. The voluted top is quite elaborate, but the body is very simple, with plain mouldings above and below a panel, in which is the following inscription: I O M ET HER/ CULI SAXA/ SACRUM/ P TALPIDIUS/CLEMENS/LEG VIII AUG/CUM MIL LEG EIUS/ V S L L M
In the centre is drawn the right side of the altar. In the centre of the side panel is an object in relief, partly covered with scale pattern, perhaps a club.

Inscription
Figures de deux cotes & du dessus d'une pierre qui a ete trouvee depuis peu en un champ voisin du village de Nouroy situe pres de Pontamousson en Lorraine: l'an 1721. L'on dit qu'il est creu un arbre dans la terre qui couvroit cette pierre, ce qui manifeste qu'elle a ete la depuis longtemps. written in ink below the drawing.
