Content (description)

The bearded philosopher stands with a roll chest behind his legs on right. He wears a himation draped round his body, but leaving his chest and shoulders bare.
Beneath the oval plinth is the inscription: ZENO Cittieus Stoicorum fecte auctor vixit Octuagenarius Olympiade CXXX ante AEram Christi an 260./ Statuam elegantissimae Scalpturae in agro Lanuvino repertam, olim villa Antoninorum cum eorundem/ simulachris ibidem effosis, Ill et Exc Dux Sfortia Caesarinus loci dominus in suum urbanum et/ ornatissimum Musaeum transtulit anno MDCCV.
