Description
Content (description)
Each sheet shows three dancing figures, on a pavement decorated with lozenges in panels but against a blank background.
33. Two maenads with billowing drapes dance to right, the one on right holding a tympanum. Between them a nude satyr skips to right playing double pipes.
35. On left a nude boy plays Pan pipes. In the centre a maenad holds a tympanum and a ring, from which hang four balls. On right a nude satyr plays a great curved horn, which has twin mouths. All the figures dance to right.
Inscribed on 35 on right as if on a side wall: 1518/ A.V
In the bottom corner of each sheet has been added a cypher which resembles a rectangle with a circle imposed on top.
