This relief which is not ancient, is set in a wall of the Palazzo Ducale, Mantua.
Description
A satyr sits on a high rock on right and holds a wine skin. Pan sits on the ground in the centre, holding up a horn for a drink. Silenus, holding a pedum and wearing a wreath and a loin cloth, and a maenad with a cup stand by the satyr on right. On left a draped maenad moves into the background carrying a plank-like object. Pan lifts the hem of her garment. There is a wall in the background.
