Content (description)

Pilasters flank the single passage of the arch. Over the passage eight panels with inscriptions form a frieze, and above them are eight arched openings beneath the projecting cornice. The attic is incomplete at the top and only traces of the inscription survive at bottom left. Flanking the keystone is the unframed inscription: L. POMPEIUS CAMPANUS/VIVUS FECIT.
In the panels of the frieze, from left to right, the inscriptions are:

c. P ATIAE/ L F SECUNDNI/AM M
d. C POMPEIO/ IULIO FRAT/ M PARENTIB
e. VOLUNTIL/CF CENSAE/AULAE AVITAE

g. D CAN TIO/AFIA CO/PER ESSO
h. L.POMPEIO/CAMP CAMP (?)/ET SENT FIL
In the passage of the arch is written: ARCUS/MARMOREUS/ apud Castrum/ AQUAR SABAUD.
There is a very distinctive, strong use of shadow
