Content (description)

The right half of the sarcophagus is shown in two drawings.
Recto: on left Protesilaus and Laodamia bid farewell to one another in front of a gateway. On right a figure lies dead on a couch. A man sits mourning on left, while an old woman with her head covered stands in the background. A man, wearing a cloak, walks to right. In the background is an aedicula containing a mask.
Verso: the figures from the far right of the same sarcophagus. Charon stands in his boat and holds the rudder. He gestures to left. A youth, wearing a cloak, stands by him on dry land.
