Description
A painted staircase, the steps rising up to the left above an unpainted area with a blank doorway. Pale pink columns with narrow coloured bands divide up the different sections of the staircase. A lady seems to lean over a sill. Goats bottom right.

In Thomas Ashby's 1914 Eton Catalogue: 'Apparently this is the staircase behind the Lararium of the Flavian Palace on the Palatine, which is now entirely ruined, and was probably destroyed by the Farnese themselves'
