Pencil inscription on backboard: 'this picture hung for many years in the hall at Sulham Rectory, Berks, and was owned by Rev H C Wilder and his son Henry Wilder. On the latter's death it was sold by his daughter, Iris Moon, and bought for 10 guineas by H C W's nephew, John Charles Wilder'
