(Set 1) 18th-century blind-stamped rough calf.

Binding

(Set 2) late 16th-century armorial binding; calfskin over pasteboards. Covers decorated with a set of four blind-stamped fillets to form a border; blind-stamped rolls to form two concentric panels; centrepiece is Eton's crest; missing leather clasps. Spine with six sewing supports, decorated with blind fillets and gilt titling over black label ("Stephani thesaurus ling. Lat."); includes former book labels at the tail. Textblock trimmed and dyed red; includes ink titling that suggests vertical storage ("Thesaurus Latinus"). Endpapers of undecorated laid paper; one flyleaf at the upper end of the textblock, two at the lower end.
