Eton College Library - Online Public Access Catalogue

The terms of use of the Eton College website (www.etoncollege.com) apply equally to your use of our online public access catalogue (“OPAC”). Copyright and database right in the OPAC belong to Eton College.

Our OPAC is hosted on a separate but linked website, which uses a cookie called “session” containing a unique code of letters and numbers. As for our main website, the session cookie is used as a reference to remember choices you make as you use the site (eg details of searches you’ve run). The session cookie expires when you close your browser. 

What is copyright?

Copyright is an intellectual property right which enables the holder to permit or prohibit copying of material such as images or text. Ownership of an image or text does not necessarily entail ownership of copyright. 

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that all material within the OPAC has been approved by copyright holders. If you have any queries regarding the copyright of material within the OPAC please email collections@etoncollege.org.uk

Permissions and prohibitions

The contents of the OPAC are intended for personal and educational use and can be accessed for the purpose of interacting with them. Pages can be printed for domestic use. Teachers can print pages for educational purposes. [Audio and video recordings can be downloaded for personal and non-commercial use only.]

The following are prohibited without prior written consent from Eton College:

Public performance or display
Sale, rental, leasing or lending of OPAC material 
Republication of OPAC content in any other medium
Reproduction, extraction, manipulation or storage of OPAC content (including the utilisation of any data mining, robots or similar data gathering and extration tools on the OPAC content) in any retrieval system, website or computer programme
Creation and/or publication of your own database featuring substantial parts of this website.

Other prohibitions may apply. If you wish to make use of any content in the OPAC the onus rests on you to ensure that you are not infringing our intellectual property.

Ownership

Copyright in all materials, work or content featured in the OPAC remains the property of Eton College and other copyright holders.

Logos

The name Eton College and its logo are registered trade marks. Their use is not permitted without prior written consent and their misuse is prohibited.
