[Copy 1] 18th/19th century red, blind- and gold-tooled morocco. Elaborate gold-tooled border, with blind-stamped centre.
[Copy 2] 18/19th-century polished calfskin over millboards bound by L. Staggemeier & Welcher in London. Covers decorated with gilt tools to form a border and with a gilt armorial centrepiece with four pelicans encircled by foliage; gilt fillets on board-edges and turn-ins. Spine with five raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets, rolls, and titling over red and green morocco labels ("Lord Orford's Works"; "Vol. [number]"; "Fugitive pieces catalogue of royal & noble authors"). Textblock trimmed and dyed yellow. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; binder's ticket on front flyleaf verso; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.
