This book appears in Aldus' list of 1498 as "Musaei ... de Herone et Leandro, amantibus, cum interpretatione latina", and is therefore here catalogued as a whole, although the two quires of which it consists were printed at different times. The greek text, comprising the five sheets of quire a is shown by the first words of Aldus' letter on sig. a1 recto to be earlier than the first part of his Aristotle, which appeared on 1 November 1495. The Latin translation, interleaved with the Greek so as to face it page by page, and comprising six sheets signed respectively -, b, c, biiii, v, bvi, is printed with two post 1495 types, the roman (114R.) containing a [rev. D] mark which cannot be traced earlier than 1497. Cf. BM 15th cent [Manchester University Library cat.].
