Glover, HM Lib., to Marquess Wellesley, presenting set in return for the gift of a copy of Dr. Clarke's edition of the Commentaries of Caesar; ms. inscription reading "The gift of His Majesty William the Fourth October 18th 1835 Wellesly", i.e., Richard Wellesley, Marquess Wellesley (1760-1842).

Loose ms. note, dated London Nov: 27 1843 ( a year after Wellesley's death), from "An Old Etonian" (a Wellesley family member?) giving details of the provenance of the book, and presenting it to the Provost and Fellows for College Library.

19th century purple, straight-grained morocco. Elaborate gold-tooled border, including acorns, with lilies in corners. Arms of William IV in gold in centre.
