18th century armorial bookplate of Eton College tipped in to title-page verso; previous owner's bookplate pasted over with plain white paper.
Late 16th or early 17th century calf over pasteboard, sewn on six alum-tawed supports. On both covers, a blind-stamped centrepiece (similar to Ker, centrepiece xxxii, the central oval empty), and an outer border of blind triple fillets (thin-thick-thin); board edges tooled with a single blind fillet. Spine with six raised bands, tooled aisde with transverse blind fillets; diagonal hatching at tail of spine; endbands of alternating double blue and plain thread (headband missing); damage to leather at head of spine covered with black ?paint (possibly a cosmetic intervention). Textblock trimmed and ?dyed yellow. Endpapers comprising a single bifolium (pastedown and free endpaper) with paper stubs.
