Bound in 16 large folio vols., each leaf individually inset into larger leaves, and interleaved. Extensively extra-illustrated with engravings (mostly portraits), and occasional ms. items.

Vol. I has engraved title-page reading "An English historical series of portraits, from Egbert's reign to the Revolution digested on Mr. Granger's plan consisting of characters disposed in different classes ... By the Revd. Mr. James Granger ...".

An engraving of Elizabeth I by Thomas Geminus or Gemini (the only impression of this plate known - see ODNB entry for Gemini) had been removed from the Storer Granger and hung in the Blue Corridor. It has since been replaced on the shelves near the Storer Granger in its mount. Shelfmark: Cf.1.4.03 (previously at Cf.1.2.01).
