[Ec.8.21]: Late 16th or early 17th century dark brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on four alum-tawed supports. On both covers, a blind-stamped centrepiece of arabesque design (50 x 35 mm.); outer border of blind triple fillets (thin-thick-thin) intersecting at corners; board edges tooled with a single blind fillet. Spine with four raised bands, tooled over and aside with blind fillets; uppermost panel tooled with diagonal blind fillets with a small circular stamp in diapers formed thereof; endbands of alternating plain and brown thread; leather over endband tooled with transverse fillets (in Oxford style?). Textblock trimmed and undecorated. Endpapers comprising a folded bifolium (pastedown and free endpaper) with stubs of plain and manuscript paper waste.
[Ec.8.22-23]: Late 16th or early 17th century dark brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on four alum tawed supports (In Ec.8.22, only three are laced into the board, different on each side). On both covers, a blind-stamped centrepiece of oval arabesque design (40 x 31 mm.); outer border of blind triple fillets (thin-thick-thin) intersecting at corners; board edges tooled with a single blind fillet. Spine with four raised bands, tooled aside with blind fillets (faded); endbands of alternating plain and brown thread. Textblock trimmed and undecorated. Endpapers comprising a folded bifolium (pastedown and flyleaf) with stubs of plain paper. Remains of green ties.
