Ms. note on final leaf verso: "Walter Smythe Eton" (Smythe was a Fellow of Eton, 1501-1524).
Ms. note on flyleaf in Smythe's hand: "Saltfletby. Omniu[m] s[an]c[t]or[um]". The book was evidently intended in Smythe's will (14 February 1524/5, proved 2 June 1525) to be bequeathed to the parish library at Saltfletby All Saints, but apparently never left Eton. See ECR 60/3/2, f. 72v.
Early 17th century (ca. 1600?) blind-tooled brown calf over oak boards; rolls with heads of Hercules and Venus, with names "Herculis" and "Vena"; Oldham stamp HM. b(2) 794, plate XLVIII. By Williamson? (the College binder).
