Mid 18th century Cambridge-style panelled calf, sewn on five supports; bound in England. On both covers, concentric frames comprised of a blind fence-like roll outlined by double fillets, with blind (or oxidised silver) foliate tools at corners; outer border of blind double fillets with a blind (or oxidised silver) wavy foliate roll' medium squares; board edges tooled with a foliate roll. Spine with five raised bands, tooled over with gilt ornamental rolls; panels outlined by transverse gilt fillets; each panel containing a saltire formed of gilt dotted fillets, the compartments thereof formed with i) gilt fleur-de-lys flanked by a small circle tool (upper and lower); ii) gilt thistles (left and right); second and third panels with titling (gilt lettering over onlaid red morocco label: "Andrews advent") and vol. no (with gilt thistles and stars at sides), respectively; endbands of alternating brown and white thread. Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red. Endpapers comprising plain laid paper (pastedown and two flyleaves) with 'Pro Patria'/Maid of Dort watermark.
