Early 17th century brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on four recessed supports, by Williamson of Eton c. 1609-10 (payment to Williamson for binding recorded in the Audit Book for 1602-1621, p. 362 (ECR/62/8)). On both covers, an outer border of blind triple fillets intersecting at corners; board edges tooled with a blind fillet. Spine rounded and smooth, tooled at head and tail with transverse blind fillets; endbands of alternating brown and blue thread. Textblock trimmed and sprinkled red. Printed and manuscript waste in binding: at least two leaves of the Eton Chrysostom (Ek.5.13, 14, and 16); and fragments of at least one two indentures relating to College property (one fragment for Burnham, the other for Woodmancote).
Three proof sheets of the Chrysostom removed to DDg.6.22.
Manuscript annotations in an early hand throughout, predominantly in vol. 3.
Indenture used as waste in binding most likely a copy of that naming George Tomeson as tenant of the Swan in Burham for 21 years at 26s. 8d. See the Audit Book for 1572-81 (ECR 62 005), p. 467.
