17th century brown sprinkled calf; by the binder who succeeded Williamson as the Eton binder; covers with border composed of two gold fillets with a small star and a small flower tool in the corners and a blind fillet, and at the centre the gilt arms of Sir John Scudamore; smooth spine divided into seven (or eight) panels by double gold fillets, each panel with a gold quatrefoil tool, lettered over the second (and third?) panel on a later black label; edges of boards tooled with a gold fillet; plain endleaves; red sprinkled edges.
