Binding
(Copy 1) 17th-century mid-brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on ?four recessed supports; bound in England; repacked and repaired, with new endpapers, 20th century. On both covers, an outer border comprising a single gilt fillet; otherwise plain; medium squares; board edges and turn-ins hatcheted in blind. Spine with very shallow false bands, otherwise smooth and rounded; panels with small blind-stamped ornament, outlined by single gilt fillets; new tailband, original headband preserved. Textblock trimmed and sprinkled brown. Endpapers comprising modern laid-effect paper (pastedown and flyleaves); one early flyleaf retained.
Binding
(Copy 2) 19/20th-century red morocco over mill/pasteboards. Covers decorated with blind fillets and rolls to forms a border with tools at the inner corners (the top one have a monogram JPR) and a blind-tooled geometric centrepiece; transversal gilt fillets on board edges; blind roll on turn-ins. Spine with four raised bands, decorated with gilt fillets, tools and titling over black label ("Gerard Leigh's [sic] Accedence of armorie."; "1612"). Textblock trimmed and gilted. Endpapers of marbled (pastedowns and facing flyleaves) and undecorated paper; two flyleaves at both ends of the textblock.

(Copy 1) Manuscript note on third upper flyleaf recto, in an ?18th century hand: "The Plate at the end is [?]ly to be found.". ECL previous shelfmark: Cm.5.3a. Manuscript inscription in a 17th century hand on A1r: blazon of an unidentified armorial. Occassional manuscript annotations, in a 17th century hand throughout, to section 'Of Colours', mostly pointers to key terms (e.g., 'precious stones'); some scattered annotations in later hands throughout.
