The miniatures are apparently the work of more than one artist. The introductory treatise includes chapters on the life and work of Simon Marmion (p. 25-39) to whom the last 10 miniatures (pl. XII-XXI) and the completion of some of the preceding miniatures (pl. VII-XI) are attributed.
