Illustrations: numerous small metal cuts and woodcuts by various artists, attributed by some to Bernard Salomon or Pierre Eskrich. Except for 17 ordered by Aneau (cf. pref.) most of the cuts of the 1552 and subsequent editions had appeared in other works, e. g. Marot's translation of Ovid's Metamorphoses, Lyon, Roville, 1550.

18th century quarter sheep binding; marbled paper covering boards; resewn and rebacked in 20th century; earlier red morocco spine label with gold tooled letters reattached; four raised bands; pastedowns of c15th century manuscript (writing and music) have also been reinserted.
Rear flyleaf bears handwriting exercises from the late 17th or early 18th centuries.
