Contemporary brown sprinkled calf; blind tooled double fillet border, with inner frame of triple fillet, with large fleurons at each corner; gold tooled roll on board edges; blind tooled triple fillet and decorative roll on spine, sometimes straying onto boards; red morocco spine label with gold tooled letters; four raised bands.

MS notes in a late 17th century or early 18th century hand have been written on strips of paper and inserted in several places. The reverses of these bears unrelated correspondence in English, relating to slaves and a court proceeding.
