Poems of Mr. John Milton, both English and Latin, compos'd at several times. Printed by his true copies. The songs were set in musick by Mr. Henry Lawes Gentleman of the Kings Chappel, and one of His Maiesties private musick. Printed and publish'd according to order.

The first leaf is blank.
The engraved frontispiece portrait (plate), which is the first published portrait of Milton, is signed: W.M. sculp:, i.e. William Marshall.
Includes decorated initials, head- and tail-pieces.
Poems in English, Italian, Latin, and Greek.

Modern binding in seventeenth century style; brown sprinkled calf; gold tooled double fillet on boards; gold tooling on spine; red edges; heavy trimming to pages but with no loss of text.
Engraved frontispiece has been rebacked onto modern paper in two sections, with possible loss of an ownership inscription between image and Greek epigram. A couple of letters from the epigram lost.
Bookseller's notes and price ("£8,500") on front pastedown.
