Monogram in ink on front pastedown: SA.
Sixteenth century brown calf; blind tooled triple fillet frames; gold tooled leaf fleuron in corners and forming central motif; title and an epigram written in ink on front board; gold tooled five-petal fleurons on spine; traces of book ties; edges stained green.
The names of Protestant translaters, including Soter, Melanchthon, Erasmus, have been expunged in ink, though now visible again.
