Late 16th-century French calf; gold fillet to form a border; gold-tooled olive spray centre-piece with monogram ENR surrounded by four S fermés; blind-tooled S at top of centre-piece on rear board only; rebacked in 20th-century calf, five raised bands, blind fillets and diapering; direct-lettered in gilt.
