The fragments purported to have been found at Belgrade and printed in italics in this edition are a forgery by François Nodot. His letter to François Charpentier, president of the French Academy, announcing his "discovery" of the fragments, is printed on *3v-*6v.

Some copies of the edition were provided with a title-page with the names of A. & J. Churchill for the London market.
