Benson and ms. note in his hand on flyleaf facing half-title with a memoir of being in Stone's division as a boy at Eton, and commenting that "the title is unfortunate in seeming to challenge Ionica" [by William Johnson Cory]. Presentation inscription to Benson from the author dated Stone House, April 1889.
