(Copy 2) Presentation copy from Hardy to Edith Graham, Edward Clodd's youngest daughter. Signed and inscribed in ms. by Hardy on front endpaper with an autograph postcard signed pasted in below. Hardy offers Graham the book as a momento of his visit, as it features the seaside. He also asks her to remember that he "was much younger when [he] wrote it than [he is] now". See Collected Letters (Purdy & Millgate), v. 4, p. 42-44.
