Parts I and II were first published in 1605 and 1607 respectively; part III, with title "Apologia Euphormionis pro se", was published in 1610; part IV, with title "Icon animorum", appeared in 1614; part V, by C.B. Morisot, was first published separately in 1624 with title "Alitophili Veritatis lacrymae" but is frequently included in collected editions of Barclay's work.
