Manuscript inscriptons, doodles, and scribbles on lower flyleaf verso, including: "Henry Corthrop", "Henry Courthopp", "Henrey Courthop his booke", and "John Bursted his booke witness by William Drurie, Robert Drurie, [and] Drue Drurie [and] John Robinson". Facing, three stylised initials 'I B' [i.e., John Bursted?]. The Druries may be the children of Drue Drury 1st Bart. (1588-1632).

Binding

17th century brown calf over pasteboard, sewn on four tawed leather supports laced through boards. On both covers, an outer border of blind triple fillets, intersecting at corners; on upper cover, a central blind stamp of a crowned falcon; on lower cover, the Estienne/Norton 'Noli Altum Sapere' device (similar tools used by Williamson of Eton); board edges tooled with a single blind fillet. Spine with transverse blind fillets across and beside the raised bands; faint traces of diagonal hatcheting to a diaper pattern at head and tail; endbands of plain thread.

Copy-specific note

Manuscript itemised list in a 17th century hand on lower flyleaf recto, describing money "paid to my tutor" for various items including "a cup" and "for tuition"; one item partially dated "from the time . . . until the 26 of July."
