Provenance

William Joseph Myers (1858-1899) was an army officer and collector of antiquities. He attended Eton College and donated generously to the College after he left. His most important collection was of Egyptian antiquities, purchased during service in Egypt and on private visits there. Myers bequeathed his collection to Eton College to form part of Eton's education and to inspire future generations.
