Volume 2 of the Works. Volume 1 was published in the same year as "The works of Joseph Hall B. of Exceter" with five imprint variants; volume 3 was published in 1662 with imprint "Printed by R.H. J.G. and W.H. Sold by J. Williams, J. Sweeting, Nath. Brook, and J. Place" and title: "Divers treatises, written upon severall occasions, ... The third tome."
Includes a translation by Robert Hall of the Latin version of "An answer to Pope Urban his inurbanity", with title page giving Nicholas Bourne as publisher.
"The olde religion:" begins new pagination and register (at signature 3A) with The reconciler, Occasional meditations, Certaine Catholick propositions;, and An answer to Pope Vrban his inurbanitie following with separate dated title pages, pagination and register is continuous.
Each book of the Contemplations, A sermon of pvbliqve thanksgiving, One of the sermons preacht at Westminster on the day of the publike fast (April 5, 1628), A sermon preacht to his Maiestie, on the Sunday before the fast (being March 30) at White-hall, One of the sermons preacht to the Lords of the High Court of Parliament, The hypocrite, The beavtie and vnitie of the Chvrch, The fall of pride, Christ and Caesar, The defeat of crvelty, and St. Pauls combat each with separate title page (some with Nathaniel Butter listed as publisher), with continuous pagination and register.
Some subsidiary title pages are dated 1633.
The first 84 p. are in two settings: A1 has (1) dedication or (2) beginning of text.
