In the first letter (17 July 1963), Ian Angus, then deputy librarian at University College London Library, writes to Gow to enquire whether Gow, as George Orwell's tutor at Eton, has any Orwell letters that he might be willing to donate to the Orwell archive at the library. The following letter (22 July 1963) confirms that Gow did reply and enclose an Orwell letter, for which Angus thanks him.
