Late 18th century mid brown sprinkled calf ; gold tooled double fillet frame; gold tooled dot and dash roll on board edges; late 20th or early 21st century rebacked spine by Richard Day in light brown sprinkled calf with gold tooled decoration; red and black morocco spine labels with gold tooled twist roll and title, almost certainly the original spine labels reattached; grey-green sprinkled edges.
The 'Principal corrections and additions to the first edition of Mr. Boswell's Life of Dr. Johnson' of 1793 has been bound in at the end of volume 1.
