19th-century black straight-grained morocco binding; border of a blind-tooled palmette roll within gold-tooled dotted fillets with gold-tooled ornament in compartments formed by the intersections; large centre ornament formed of interlaced rectangle and lozenge formed of double fillets with gold and blind tooling in compartments; blind-tooled spine with gilt lettering and quatrefoil ornaments; elaborately gold-tooled leather doublure with brown painted paper centre panel bordered with blind Greek key roll; gilt text block edges.
