Provenance
18th-century engraved armorial bookplate of Eton College.
Provenance
Engraved armorial bookplate of Edward Waddington recording donation to Eton College in 1731, obscured by a blank piece of paper with Waddington's name in ms. This is found in other volumes in the library, mostly works on civil law, which cannot have been part of this bequest.
Provenance
Identified by Robert Birley, on the grounds of the binding and an inscription in a copy of the Eton Chrysostom (1612-1613), as being among the books given by Sir Henry Savile around 1620. Cf. Birley, Notes on bindings in College Library V, 870.
Binding
17th-century brown calf; tooled in blind with intersecting frame composed of two bands of a crested roll; panel divided by two bands of the same roll; six raised double bands; remains of two pairs of ties; chain holes. Bound by Williamson.
Copy-specific note
Library copy bound in 4 volumes, with final section of pt. 4 (Tractatus de pactis, perutilis, et necessarius: 7, [1] leaves) and pt. 10 (Index locupletissimus ...) bound to follow pt. 5.
