The portion of William Beckford's library left to his younger daughter, the Duchess of Hamilton, was removed after his death in 1844 to Hamilton Palace, but kept apart from the Hamilton collections, and sold in 4 sales in 1882-1883.

19th century straight-grained blue-black morocco half binding; tooled in gilt and blind with armorial stamps of William Beckford and/or the Dukes of Hamilton (heron's head erased holding in its beak a fish; of a ducal coronet an oak tree traversed with a frame saw; cross flory; cinquefoil ermine); brown paper boards; top edge of text block gilt, the rest untrimmed.
