17th century full red morocco; border of gilt triple fillets with Colbert arms tooled in gold on both covers within a cartouche; gold-tooled spine with monogram of Bibliotheca Colbertina in the compartments; five raised bands; gilt spine title; red fore-edges; rebacked in red goatskin retaining original spine.
