Note
The first complete printed Armenian Bible. The Prayer of Manasseh, the 4th book of Esdras, and a large section of the Book of Ecclesiasticus contained in this edition were translated from the Latin Vulgate version by Oskan Erewants’i. This edition is based on a single manuscript dated A.D. 1295, now in the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran MS.no.180).

According to the colophon(pp.833-834) the printing was completed on 30 October 1668: "ժամանեցաք ողորմութ[եամ]բ նունոյ Տ[եառ]ն եւ Փրկչին Յի[սուսի] ,ներ թուոջն Ք[րիստոս]ի հազարորդի վեցհարիւրորդի վատսներորդիութերորդի յամսեանն հոկտեմբերի ,որոյ էին աւուրք երեքտասաներորդ:Իսկ ըստ մերոյս հազարորդի հարիւրորդի եօթնեւտասն երրորդի ներ նոյնում ամսում հոկտեմբերի երրորդի,իսկ ըստ հայոց ամսոյ հրոտից քսաներորդի հինգերորդի» [Arrived at the conclusion [of the printing] by the mercy of our Saviour Jesus, in the year of Christ 1668 on the 30th day of the month of October.and in our [Armenian era] 1117 [+551= 1668] in the same month of the 3rd of October, and according to the Armenian month of 25th of Hrot].

Կնկեցինք Նիրհն ԻԹ[ 29] ուն անուն դրինք Եպրայքսեայ . կընքավորն Տէր Միքայէլն էր ով ոք որ ըզմեզ առաջի Ա[ ստուծո] յ յիշող լինի յինքն յիշեալ լինի առաջի Ա[ ստուծո]յ Ամէն" [In the small Armenian era of 82 [on the 20th of the month of Nirhn on Saturday the 5th, Ter Petros had a daughter. We baptised her on the 29th of Nirhan and named [her] Eprak’seay. The baptiser was Ter Mik’ayel. Whoever remembers us before God may he also be remembered before God Amen].
Binding
Contemporary 17th century Dutch gold-tooled calf over bevelled wooden boards, attributed to the Amsterdam binder Albertus Magnus; boards stamped with design of concentric decorative frames; gold-tooled oval centrepieces with image of the Crucifixion on upper board and image of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the lower board; rebacked in modern goatskin with five raised bands and gold-tooled roll decorations; brass furniture with clasp in twisted column design; gilt and gauffered text block edges. Such bindings were only provided for presentation copies like the one in B.N. res.A 2319 for King Louis XIV; see Wijnman, H.R. De Amsterdamsche boek-binder Albert Magnus (Oud Holland, 1937), p.237, no.1.
