Copy-specific note

[Copy 4] Corrected copy, bound with a copy of Ionica (ECL copy 10). 10 pages of autograph verses by Cory on endpapers, one dated 1870, and tipped-in ALS (4 pp.) from Cory to Prothero dated 8 February 1877, returning the newly bound book to Prothero having "written on most of the spare leaves". Loosely inserted ALS on headed stationery from the bookseller James Bain to Geoffrey Madan, dated 21 July 1926, comparing different editions of the work.

Copy-specific note

[Copy 5] Corrected copy. Bound with a copy of Ionica (ECL copy 11). Extensive annotations which according to a note on the endleaf are all in Cory's hand except where bracketed and initialled CDRW. This attribution is questioned in an undated, unsigned typescript note suggesting that all the notes are "in the hand of C. D. 'Chatty' Williamson" and that he "would appear to have copied these notes from another copy". On two leaves of blue paper and endleaves are 7 pp. of ms. verses possibly in Cory's hand but possibly transcribed, with dates between 1870 and 1888. Loosely inserted clipping from the Times, 30 April 1936, on 'Housman the poet'.
