Late 17th or early 18th century sprinkled calf; blind tooled double fillet border with flower cornerpieces; gold tooled scroll roll on board edges; blind tooled double fillet on spine; red morocco spine label with gold tooled letters; red and brown sprinkled edges; five raised bands.
Copy imperfect: lacks engraved frontispiece and map of Gaul.
Extensive manuscript collation with another manuscript of Caesar's works throughout.
Inscription on first page of main text: Ex bibliothe. Melchis. Thevenot. May indicate that the printed book came from the library of Melchisadec Thevenot (c1620-1692), or that the manuscript used in the collation was in his library.
