Cantabrigiæ: Excudebat Joann. Field, celeberrimæ academiæ typographus. Impensis Gulielmi Nealand, bibliopolæ., Ann. Dom. 1660.
[30], 182; [2], 103, [1] p. ; 15 cm. (8vo.)
The 'Index' has separate pagination but continuous signatures.
Includes index with separate t.p.: "Index plantarum agri Cantabrigiensis, in quo nomina Anglica Latinis præponuntur ordine alphabetico: ..."
Signatures: *⁸(-*2) **⁸ A-S⁸ (S8 blank).
T.p. printed in black and red.
Attributed to John Ray.
A further issue exists with a cancel t.p. bearing a London imprint (ESTC R219663).
Title pages were printed on both *1 and *2; *1 (with red rule above imprint, "Catalogus ... in quo", and the 'a' of "agris" aligned below the 'o' of "sponte" in the title) was apparently intended to correct *2 (black rule above imprint, and "Catalogus .. in qua exhibentur") and *2 intended to be cancelled. Keynes states the "complete copies of this book contain [the] two title-pages", though some are found with only one. ESTC gives only [30] initial pages, preferring one of the two title-pages only to be present. ESTC's Variant 1: with "in qua" title page; *1 cancelled. Variant 2: both title pages present. (Both ESTC R203306)
Keynes gives three variants of this Cambridge imprint (see below). This record is for the issue with rule above imprint printed in red (i.e. with the presence of leaf *1).
