Place and date of production inferred from an entry in Eton College Audit Book for 1615, recording the binding of a newly-written 'Balsamon grece' given by the Provost (Henry Savile, provost 1595-1622) to the College, and for sewing and covering the old copy of it which was taken asunder to be transcribed. It is not certain whether this is the old or new copy. Given that two copies are recorded by Bernard in 1697, it is possible that both were in the Library for a time.
Previous shelfmarks: Bo.2.7, Bl.2.9, Bk.3.4.
The interleaved M.R. James catalogue (Eton MS 932) records annotations in Henry Savile's hand in this copy.
Page numbers supplied in ink.
Marginal annotations in Latin and Greek throughout.
Produced in several hands, with some sections rubricated. Plumb lines and guidelines visible from p. 1205 on.
Register given in Latin alphabet: A8-PPPP8. Catchwords present throughout.
Eton College Audit Book for 1615 also gives an entry for the volumes' binding by Vincent Williamson, for 5s 6d.
