Publisher's blue buckram case binding with HI monogram stamped in blind on upper cover and spine title blocked in gilt; pale lemon yellow dust-jacket with wraparound design by Drury Pervil containing "the initials of everyone who acted with Irving at the Lyceum, and of many other people who worked in the theatre for him", with a prize being offered to the reader who sent the most complete key to the people indicated by the initials to the publishers by 30 November 1930, the winner to be announced in Everyman during December 1930.

Craig's mocked-up original design for the binding in grey boards with white lettering and reproduction of circular woodcut portrait of Irving on upper cover, with Craig's design notes and annotated "EGC's copy. Original. Sent to Dent" is also in ECL (Kbb.2.22).
