Volume I, 1 inscribed by Edward Gordon Craig to Edward Anthony Craig: "Teddy from Papa, September, 1915" and "Another book!". With the latter's marks of emphasis and inserted markers.
Volume I, 2 inscribed by Edward Gordon Craig inside upper board "Christmas. 1916." and by Edward Anthony Craig on upper board "T" and "from P. 1916". With the latter's marks of emphasis, inserted markers, and infrequent annotations. Loosely inserted chit bearing pencil note "For Mr Edward Carrick" [pseudonym of Edward Anthony Craig] on recto and torn-off part of a building plan on verso.
Volume II (v. 3 as bound) inscribed: "To my dearest boy Teddy, on June 7th 1915. ... Your old father Gordon Craig", with motto "Never copy the old but never forget the old - for there is always some good to be found in it", and note about the order in which the three volumes were given. Upper board inscribed: "1915 EC". With occasional annotations and marks of emphasis in pencil by Edward Gordon Craig or Teddy Craig.
Volumes I, 1 and II bound in 20th century plain cream cloth; ms. paper title label in English on upper board; numbered 1 and 3 respectively; original front cover of vol. I bound at start of vol. II (vol. 3 as bound). Note inside back cover of third volume: Bound by Dori, Florence, 2 francs.
